An Australian platypus was recently rescued after being found wandering around the Caboolture train station. His adventures took a turn for the worst when he took a wrong turn and ended up lost inside a storm drain.

Vets from the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital rescued the wayward platypus, which they named Percy. He was treated by the vets and deemed healthy enough for release back into the wild.

Queensland Rail said: “We are pleased to say he has been returned to the Caboolture area in a creek which is known as a habitat for platypus, far away from train tracks and any other human hazards.

“Percy seemed keen to explore his new surroundings as he barrelled out of his transportation container with gusto.”

They also thanked the vets for their help in rescuing and treating Percy.
